Video Projects

Below is a representation of my work in video production over the last several years: all created with a small budget and limited resources.

The Key2Free

In 2019, the lovely folks at The Key2Free approached me about creating a story video for their fundraising gala. The Key2Free is an organization in Georgetown, TX committed to providing safe transition housing, education, and therapeutic care for human trafficking survivors.

Primary Goals:

  • Tell the origin story of the organization using the founders.

  • Provide the audience with the face of a real survivor.

  • Communicate the primary fundraising need.

  • Compel the attendees to provide funding for the organization.

I utilized the Storybrand framework developed by Donald Miller:

  1. A Character

  2. Has a Problem

  3. And meets a Guide ( <— the brand)

  4. Who Gives them a Plan

  5. And Calls them to Action

  6. That Helps Them Avoid Failure

  7. And Ends in Success

On the evening of the gala, there was a silent auction before the event and an auction during the event. Both together had brought in roughly $40,000.

Immediately after playing the video at the event, the organizers did a “Paddles Up,” allowing attendees to give directly to the organization without getting anything in return.

The “Paddles Up” portion of the event brought in roughly $100,000.

The organization planned to hold another fundraising gala in 2020 but had to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fortunately, I was able to set up a live stream studio for their team to use to host a virtual fundraiser. They were able to engage with their audience and raise a little over $100,000 over the course of their broadcast.

Then in 2021, they were able to plan another gala, and they again asked me to create a video telling the story of another survivor.

With only five weeks before the gala, I planned, filmed, edited, and completed the video with a budget of $0.

Sermon Bumpers

Each weekend worship service at Georgetown Church of Christ included several elements including songs, prayer, communion, and a sermon. Since each sermon was part of a month-long series, we would put together a short video to be played right before the sermon to setup the sermon topic as well as connect the content to the other sermons in the series.

“This Not That”

Sermon Series Summary:

“In a world that requires simplicity for understanding, it’s important to spend the time and effort to look under the hood to see what values drive a person. Understanding the values underneath someone’s actions allows wisdom to create inner peace which, in turn, promotes peace in the community.”

“Detox”

Sermon Series Summary:

“The year 2020 will go down as one of the most bonkers years in our lifetimes: Pandemic, fires, floods, riots, murder hornets… it was all so, so much. And just as God provided a system of rest called Sabbath, we too should allow time to create space, reflect, and shed that which has poisoned our minds and bodies, and re-align ourselves with what matters most.”

“New”

Sermon Series Summary:

“For hundreds of years, men in positions of religious power made laws, rules, and restrictions, creating burdens on the people causing unequal footing, and limiting access to God. So God sent his Son to earth, creating a new way of access to God, lifting burdens and allowing for all people to have equal footing.”
